Both organizations have welcomed the removal of restrictions for travelers
Julia Simpson, WTTC President and CEO, said: “Eliminating pre-departure testing and replacing Day 2 PCRs with more affordable antigen testing will significantly boost the UK travel and tourism sector and help both him and the entire UK economy to recover much faster than anticipated.
“The test measures that were removed never stopped the arrival of infections and were a strong policy that only harmed the travel and tourism sector”.
Joss Croft, UKinbound CEO said: “The industry will be very pleased to see the onerous pre-departure testing removed and the day 2 PCR test replaced with a lateral flow test”.
“However, this is not done. January to March is a key reservation period for inbound travel and if we are to ensure the successful revival of the UK’s valuable inbound tourism industry, our fifth largest export sector, worth £ 28bn to the UK economy in 2019, then the government should provide a clear roadmap for the removal of all travel restrictions and note that the UK will be fully open for business”.
