“Today we are connecting these two cities, which in turn will offer travelers the opportunity to visit many more destinations in our network of connections in Colombia, Central America and South America,” said Félix Antelo, President & CEO of Grupo Viva
Promoting greater connectivity in Cali and now expanding the international offer from this important base for Viva, the ‘Super Low Cost’ airline today begins operations on the Cali – Cancun route. With this new route, Viva strengthens its base at the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport, which demonstrates the importance of this city for the Company’s operations and expansion strategy.
The airline that promotes air inclusion in the country expects that approximately 50,000 passengers will be mobilized during the first year of operations of this route, generating the recognized ‘Viva Effect’ with a reduction in market rates of up to 30%, which will allow that more and more travelers connect with the world and fly with low prices and the best punctuality.
This start of operations adds to the recent launch of the direct route Medellin – Punta Cana and the 14 domestic routes with which Viva will give the ‘Vuelta a Colombia’ and will increase its network of connections to 45 national and 12 international routes. Likewise, with this new route to Cancun, which is added to Viva’s 23 beach destinations, the airline ratifies its commitment to being ‘The Kings of the Beaches’, a strategy that promotes the reactivation of tourism in a conscious and sustainable manner for these destinations that are highly demanded by passengers.
“This ribbon cutting and the official start of this international route demonstrates that our commitment to Cali is strong. We know that this destination has had an excellent reception by Colombian and Mexican travelers, and that it will favor the development of tourism, business and economy of both countries. Today we are connecting these two cities, which in turn will offer travelers the opportunity to visit many more destinations in our network of connections in Colombia, Central America, and South America,” said Félix Antelo, president & CEO of Grupo Viva.
The ‘Super Low Cost’ airline, which promotes air inclusion in Colombia, will have three weekly flights for this route with prices ranging from USD159 final price per trip originating in Cali and USD109 final price per trip originating in Cancun. With this, there are already 6 domestic routes and one international one operated from the Cali base, with access to the entire Viva route network through the Medellín HUB, which makes it easier for travelers from other cities to quickly connect to multiple destinations in Colombia and all the continent.
