The country will announce the increase in its air connectivity, the extension of benefits to visitors and the diversity of tourist experiences
FESTIRIS takes place in Serra Park a few minutes from downtown Gramado and covers 24,000 square meters, of which Uruguay occupies 90 with its pavilion.
The Tourism Festival brings together professionals from around the world to promote tourism destinations and products, discuss the latest market trends and tourism direction, exchange knowledge and find business opportunities.
More than 2,500 brands, 40 international destinations, more than 12,000 attendees and 450 journalists participate, the ideal setting for networking. Its organizers announced that 15% more tickets were already sold than in 2019, before the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affected.
In addition to the general fair, there are segmented spaces to better receive professionals and visitors who will find special offers on Luxury, Business and Innovation, Health Tourism, LGTB+, Weddings and the novelty of this edition, the gastronomic experiences area, among others. .
Under the motto “Resignifying tourism” the fair has a Meeting room where the reality of the sector will be presented with important panelists.
URUGUAY
There are fifteen operators and destinations that will participate in the Uruguayan pavilion. But that is not all, two buses, one from the South and the other from the North Region of the country, will arrive at the fair to position their brands together with national agencies before Brazilian agencies and operators.
The Uruguayan stand will have the participation of the Ministry of Tourism together with: the municipalities of Montevideo, Canelones, Maldonado, Colonia and the Rocha Destination Management Organization (brings together the Departmental Government and private tour operators, grouped in the Rochense Tourism Corporation ); in the hotel segment: Enjoy, The Grand Hotel, Awa, Sheraton Colonia; Carmel Resort & Spa; hot springs: Altos del Arapey; in transport: EGA; agencies: Dcom Travel and Abtour; gastronomy and culture: El Milongón.
In the first half of 2022, the country received more than 900 thousand visitors, who spent US$650 million. From January to June of this year, 141 thousand Brazilians arrived in Uruguay. This represents an increase in tourists after the Coronavirus pandemic, but 37% more Brazilians are still required to match the 220,000 admitted in 2019. To reverse it, the Ministry of Tourism “increased its participation in international fairs in the sector, reinforced its advertising in public roads in Santa Catarina, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul, as well as investing in scheduled advertising in the Brazilian media in general. While planning various promotional events in this country throughout 2022/23”, said the National Director of Tourism, Roque Baudean, who is attending FESTIRIS together with Lic.
The increase in its air connectivity, benefits for tourists, the diversification of the offer, and the integrated regional promotion of the destination are other strategies that Uruguay chose to increase the arrival of visitors. Foreigners who visit Uruguay will have tax benefits: VAT 0 in hotels, VAT refund in gastronomy, car rental without driver and catering for parties or events; and discounts on organizing events, reimbursement of 10.5% of the cost of renting a property for tourism purposes, 24% on gasoline at service stations 20 km from the border, among others.
MORE CONNECTIVITY
Three airlines Azul, GOL and Latam connect Uruguay and Brazil. During the high season, Azul flights increase in addition to the Montevideo-Porto Alegre section or the Uruguayan capital with São Paulo, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro, as well as Recife, Foz do Iguazú and Florianópolis, providing greater connectivity to the region. GOL, for its part, increased Montevideo – São Paulo to 28 daily weekly flights, in addition to adding the Montevideo – Curitiba flight. While LATAM continues with its flights from Montevideo – San Pablo. Overland TTL and EGA also increased their frequencies.
COLOGNE AND ITS CHARMS
Within the framework of the promotion of Uruguay, the Municipality of Colonia, the Tourist Association of the same department with the support of the Ministry of Tourism will hold the presentation cocktail of the Colonia destination. It will be on November 4 at 7:30 p.m., at the Hotel Recanto da Serras with prior registration. The media and influencers from Brazil were invited to discover flavors and experiences of Colonia.
