The government of the Caribbean destination implements a new entry protocol
The Bahamas suspended the mandatory requirement for RT-PCR testing for vaccinated travelers, which is expected to take effect on January 7, 2022. Vaccinated people, as well as children 2 to 11 years old, may still have a negative rapid antigen test or a negative RT-PCR test.
Additionally, beginning January 4, 2022, all persons staying in the Bahamas for more than 48 hours will be required to undergo rapid antigen testing, regardless of vaccination status.
The details of the protocol changes are as follows:
All those traveling to The Bahamas from other countries, whether fully vaccinated or not, will be required to obtain a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to their arrival date in the Bahamas.
Vaccinated travelers and children between the ages of 2 and 11 may have a rapid antigen test or a negative RT-PCR test.
All unvaccinated travelers, older than 12 years, must present a negative RT-PCR test (acceptable tests include NAAT, PCR, RNA, RT-PCR, and TMA).
All children under the age of two are exempt from any testing requirements.
48-Hour COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test – Beginning January 4, 2022, a rapid antigen test will be required for all travelers staying in The Bahamas for more than 48 hours (two (2) nights), regardless the vaccination status.
Visitors leaving before 48 hours will not be required to obtain this exam.
This test replaces the existing Rapid Antigen Test on Day 5.
