Latin American designers showed their inspiration in Latin culture on a catwalk on the high seas
Royal Caribbean International, the world’s leading cruise line, returned to Latin America with Rhapsody of the Seas and its “Fashion of the Seas” – a grand fashion show on the high seas – which took place on December 1. Being the perfect ship to celebrate Latin culture, it was an exclusive event where designers from the region exhibited their talent.
Tony Vergara from Panama, Carlos Jacobo from Mexico, and Colombians Juan Pablo Socarrás, Alitza García and Daniella Batlle presented their creations on a unique catwalk with the theme “What to wear on a cruise.” This event took place the night before the ship arrived in Colón, Panama and then Cartagena, Colombia.
One of the most emblematic places of Rhapsody – the Centrum – is the stage where collections inspired by deep Latin roots were shown. Each piece is a passionate reflection of the pride and love the designers feel for their culture. With meticulous details and a distinctive approach, the garments encapsulate the richness and diversity of this influence, creating a unique fusion of style and tradition in contemporary fashion.
To ensure that the ship serves as the perfect canvas for these extraordinary designs, Royal Caribbean has drawn on the experience of fashion connoisseurs and experts such as Sandra Paola Real, editor of the Colombian media Revista ALO; Camila Villamil, Colombian fashion expert; and Andrea Nahle, Mexican influencer specialized in fashion. All of them have contributed their knowledge and expertise in the selection process of the designers who are part of this initiative.
“Fashion of the Seas” was an unparalleled show that fused style, innovation, creativity and cruise experiences through Latin American fashion where the crew members were the models.
During this season, Rhapsody will visit destinations such as Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, in addition to Colón and Cartagena. The ship has amenities for entertainment and relaxation for all ages: restaurants, bars, swimming pools, rock climbing wall, casino, spa, gym, video games, as well as activities for children in Adventure Ocean, thus ensuring that everyone, without exception, have an unforgettable vacation.
