The hotel company shares second position with Enagás, having tied both in score in the ranking prepared by the Haz Foundation
Meliá Hotels International stands out for yet another year as a leading Spanish company in compliance and good governance in the recently published report prepared by the Haz y Cumplen Foundation, one of the most important compliance associations in the country. According to the Transparency and Good Governance Report on ethics and Compliance of Ibex 35 Companies, the hotel company has obtained, together with Enagás, the second highest score among the companies evaluated, only behind the first position in the ranking, occupied on this occasion by the Iberdrola company.
The company maintains a firm commitment to ESG, which includes aspects of good governance and compliance, in addition to the objective of continuous improvement as a responsible company. Thanks to this, Meliá Hotels International has been able to improve its rating compared to last year and revalidate its recognition as a “transparent company”. The rigorous evaluation carried out to prepare the report and which has consolidated the hotel company as one of the leading companies in the Ibex 35 in Compliance, has taken into account 16 indicators referring to policies and processes, responsible compliance, training and awareness, channel ethics, and government.
As Gabriel Escarrer, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, explains, “for us it is very important that our company is considered a benchmark also in this matter, demonstrating that our commitment to moving towards a responsible business model begins with ethics and compliance as the basis of good corporate governance. This positioning is also, to a large extent, the result of the commitment of our Compliance, Corporate Governance and Sustainability teams, of whose constant effort to promote a culture of transparency and compliance at Meliá we are very proud.”
