Guanacaste Airport: passengers will be able to charge their cell phones while pedaling

These positions allow passengers to keep moving during waiting times

Guanacaste Airport passengers who want to charge their cell phones can do so with stations to generate their own energy. The airport installed fixed tables in the boarding lounges where, through dynamos connected to pedals, energy can be generated with physical movement.

For every minute of pedaling, an average cell phone will be able to charge 1% of its battery. In other words, a non-professional person who uses these posts for 30 minutes will travel approximately 4.5 km, the distance that exists from Playa Hermosa to Playa Bonita in Guanacaste.

Complementary to the charging stations, a second touch zone was also implemented in which passengers can self-manage their food and beverage orders from the commercial concessionaires of La Barra Imperial and the Bakery.

“We are incorporating innovative proposals, in accordance with the sustainable vision of Costa Rica and, above all, at the level of international competition. Each initiative seeks to enhance the experience of passengers both on their departure from Costa Rica and on arrival.

This type of project is always possible thanks to the coordination with the airport administrator who trusts our work as a commercial concessionaire and together in this way, ensure the well-being of travelers”, said Adriana Echandi, CEO of Morpho Travel Experience.
The charging points, available for both Android and Apple, are located in the East Boarding Hall and were installed by Morpho Travel Experience. They are labeled with texts such as “movement is energy and energy is life”.

“We know that cell phones are part of our daily work and that waiting time for a flight can be used to charge it. Cycling for 10 minutes to generate energy means a reduction of up to 100 calories. This is how we launch innovative projects, as a pillar of VINCI Airports, that can add value to the experience of being in transit at our terminal and sow a seed of why sustainable tourism is the best option.”, mentioned César Jaramillo , General Manager of Guanacaste Airport.
