Guanacaste Airport awarded as the best terminal in its region

For the fourth consecutive year, it obtained the award as the Best Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean in the category of less than two million passengers

In total, VINCI Airports this year places 9 airports in its network among the best in the world in terms of service quality in the Airports Council International (ACI) ranking, which are the world reference in terms of airport service quality.

The terminals of Guanacaste Airport, Porto and Ponta Delgada in Portugal are named the best airports in their region according to the Air Service Quality awards (ASQ) in their respective categories of region and size.

Guanacaste Airport, is also distinguished by obtaining a second prize for the airport with the “Sanitary Measures” of its region. This award that evaluates the quality of the actions implemented as part of VINCI Airports’ “Let’s Protect Ourselves” global campaign and the health protocols implemented. This recognition was also received by the Porto and Belgrade Nikola Tesla terminals, members of the same network.

ACI also granted Guanacaste Airport, the previous month, the “Voice of the Passenger” certification, which is delivered based on the opinion of the passengers. The terminals in Portugal, Serbia, Chile and the United States, operated by VINCI Airports, were also awarded this distinction.

This new success illustrates the effectiveness of VINCI Airports’ service quality strategy, which is based on three common pillars at its airports: digitization, “sense-of-place” and trust.

Nicolas Notebaert, General Manager of VINCI Concessions and President of VINCI Airports, commented: “The experience that passengers have had at the airport has become an important step in their journey, and even more so in this recovery period. At VINCI Airports , our service quality program involves all our airports around the world. The diversity of our network and the exchange of knowledge allows us to increase the efficiency of our operations and make the travel experience more fluid, pleasant and safe”.

The CEO of the Guanacaste Airport, César Jaramillo, said: “This is very good news because it encourages us to continue applying the world-renowned VINCI Airport model, but at the same time with the warmth and friendliness characteristic of Guanacastecans.”

The Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica, Gustavo Alvarado, assured that “these recognitions reflect Guanacaste Airport’s commitment to excellence. They are an incentive for Costa Rica’s competitiveness and are a seal of guarantee that both the destination and the airport provide high quality and safe services for all passengers”.

ACI World Director Luis Felipe de Oliveira stated, “After a second year of the pandemic, this year’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award winners especially reflect leadership in customer experience during the time most challenging in the history of our industry.
