Following the instructions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, convened the leaders of the tourism sector of the port of Acapulco to advance the organization of the Tianguis Turístico in its 2024 edition.

Also accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero, Santos Ramírez Cuevas, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted the importance of this meeting to learn about the current situation in the destination and draw up the lines of action that will allow it to be carried out The most important tourist fair in Latin America was successful in the port where it was born.
He pointed out that after the arrival of Hurricane Otis, thanks to the coordination between the authorities of the three levels of government and the close collaboration with the private sector, it was decided to maintain the Mexico 2024 Tourist Tianguis in Acapulco, for which the hoteliers committed to have 3,500 hotel rooms.
Torruco Marqués highlighted the forceful response of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, so that in a first stage 61 thousand 300 million pesos are contributed for the rescue of Acapulco, by the government of Mexico.
He assured that for the 48th edition of the Mexico Acapulco 2024 Tourist Tianguis, there will be the presence of more than 300 international tour operators, which will detonate tourist activity and economic benefits in Mexico and this destination, in compliance with the presidential instruction to do of tourism a tool of social reconciliation.
In this sense, he announced a series of actions that will increase and strengthen the tourism product and the development of high-impact events in Acapulco with the purpose of motivating the desire to travel among national and foreign tourists.
Accompanied by the mayor of Acapulco, Abelina López, the Secretary of Tourism held an important meeting with more than 30 hoteliers and representatives of chambers and tourism associations, with the purpose of agreeing on actions for the reactivation of the tourist infrastructure of Acapulco, so May this destination shine again as in its best times.
Through a productive dialogue, the businessmen expressed their comments and expressed their commitment to ensuring that the destination has the conditions to carry out the Mexico 2024 Tourism Tianguis, and they were grateful that it was decided to keep it in Acapulco.
Fulfilling the commitment with Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda, the head of Sectur delivered 10 new Ángeles Verdes units with the purpose of strengthening attention to road tourism in Guerrero, and contributing to the reactivation of tourist activity in Acapulco.
During her intervention, the state governor, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, trusted that, with everyone’s efforts, the edition of the Mexico 2024 Tourist Tianguis in Acapulco will be special and a success.
“This is the sign that Acapulco is rising, it is also the sign of the commitment of the three levels of government; “We have been in constant communication with our president Andrés Manuel López Obrador who has instructed us to work at full speed to build this wonderful port, and for the Tianguis Turístico to stay at home,” said the state leader.
For his part, the head of Sectur Guerrero, Santos Ramírez Cuevas, said that the operation of the Mexico 2024 Tourist Tianguis has already been launched, in coordination with the Federal Tourism Secretariat, with the aim of establishing a new concept of what will be the great event that promotes the wide variety of destinations and tourist products in Mexico at a national and international level.
“We will rethink some ideas and seek to ensure that the course and operation of the event is carried out with all the powers of respect for the environment we are experiencing,” said Ramírez Cuevas.
