CATA has promoted the destinations of Central America and the Dominican Republic at ITB in Berlin

The agency continues to bet on international platforms to insert the regional tourist offer

The Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA, for its acronym in English) has participated in the annual edition of ITB Berlin, where international tourism actors have met in the central forum of tourism in Germany.

From March 7 to 9, pavilion 22 of the fair has hosted the participation of CATA, from where the multi-destination offer of the isthmus has been promoted, which allows combining 2 or more destinations in the region with experiences of adventure, nature, archeology and culture . In this sense, tourism news and information on the performance of tourism in the heart of the Americas have been shared.

In 2021, the countries that make up the Central American region and the Dominican Republic received 11.1 million tourists, representing a 75.8% growth in visits, influencing a 49.8% increase in total visitors.

That same year, a total of 1.2 million tourists from Europe arrived in the region, representing 14.8% of the total number of travelers received. Of these, the visit of 164,007 tourists from Germany was registered, positioning itself as the second most important European market for tourism from Central America and the Dominican Republic.
According to preliminary data presented by some countries in the region, in 2022 the number of tourists from Germany would exceed more than 50,000 travelers who decided to travel to the different countries of the Central American isthmus.
In accordance with the most recent data, published in January 2023, the World Tourism Organization indicates that more than 900 million tourists made international trips in 2022, double the number in 2021. The Americas, including the countries of Central America and the Dominican Republic, recovered around 65% of pre-pandemic visitors, which allows us to anticipate a much more robust recovery by the end of 2023.

CATA continues to bet on international platforms to insert the regional tourism offer into the new dynamics of world tourism, through actions of promotion and marketing that allows potential tourists to know first-hand the options to visit the countries of Central America and the Dominican Republic.
