The Colombian airline adds key routes and renews its fleet to compete in a highly demanded market
The Colombian aviation market is red hot, to learn about the latest news from Avianca, during the ANATO Tourist Showcase and T2L had an exclusively interview with the Sales Director Ana María Copete Herrera. We share her responses below:
What has been the experience in the Tourist Showcase of Anato?
For us it has been a total success, we have gone with a totally renewed attitude, we show our new chairs and all the novelties that we bring and that we will continue presenting during the next 2 years. In addition, we have promoted our routes.
In that sense, important announcements have been made here, could you give us more information?
The goal that we set for ourselves in 2021 was to open some 50 new routes in the next 2 years, that is, between now and 2023. This semester, starting in March 2022, we will inaugurate 13 new services from Bogotá, Cali and Medellín to different cities in Colombia, but especially abroad.
Colombia is a market that is becoming increasingly competitive, how do you experience it on a day-to-day basis?
Avianca has always been a leader in this industry, last year we exceeded the demand for air tickets versus 2019, more and more we see that the economic and demand reactivation is taking place and is taking place and it fills us with pride. We have occupancy rates above 90%, which had not been reached in the last 15 years, so we feel very proud and, above all, very honored to continue to participate very proactively in the Colombian market.
The year is just beginning, what initiatives will you put into practice from now on?
We are in a very important and profound transformation, I believe that the results will materialize soon. It is a strategy that we have been planning since last year. The entire densification of our fleet is coming, we will have changes in our fare structures and there will be changes in every sense, including the route network.
We will have interesting promotions focused on gaining more and more ground in the market.
